Review : I GOT A BOY

At first, when we talk about music, it's all about taste. Either like and dislike, everyone have their own taste of music and opinions. Some people easily likes certain songs at the first time heard that song, some people need to heard a couple times to feel n likes those songs, some people although heard a million times still didn't got that shit. Yeah, it's all about taste of music, and music is subjective anyway. And here is my review of Girls' Generation 4th Korean Album " I Got A Boy" , i may not know too much about music genres, this is purely my personal of view as someone who love listen music.

Dalam setiap comebacknya, Girl's Generation selalu hadir dengan concept yang berbeda. Dari Pure n innocent "Into The New World" era, Colorful n cute "Gee" era , Marine Girl "Genie" , Cheerleaders "Oh!", dll. Seiring berjalannya waktu GG pun seakan perlahan meninggalkan "cute image" menuju "image yang lebih mature". Dan di album korea keempat ini mereka kembali dengan "New Concept" yang baru, Hiphop (?) Style ! Suatu langkah yang bisa dibilang cukup berani. Dan album "I Got A Boy" sendiri berisikan berbagai jenis genre lagu.

1. I Got A Boy
At first heard of this song, maybe a lot of people would feel "I Got A Boy" is a 5in1 song. Like "wadehek is this" This mashup and transition into any part of the song seem weird and messy. But if we try to understand more deeply  the "I Got A Boy" lyrics, then we will be more familiar with the song itself. "I Got A Boy" simply like stories about girls' talk, like gossip which is sung from the point of view of some people. Listen carefully you will find and understand the song is a conversation itself which explains the transition of the song. The more i watch n listen IGAB the more i notice how the different parts flow together. This song is really unique, the song is split the way it's for a reason, such a genius awesome briliant song, really! i love this song! So addicting and stucked in my head already. ah and IGAB dance choreography is awesome too, so cool and powerful!

2. Dancing Queen
Dancing Queen is a remake song of Mercy by Duffy. Do you know? “Dancing Queen” was done back in 2008, originally planned for release in 2008 for their comeback, and finally SM released this never-before-seen music video in 2012. i love "time travel" concept in this song, their strong vocals, colorful skinny jeans and white-shirt-blue-jeans combinations are nostalgic reminders of the “Gee” era, and their "cat dance" is so cute.

3. Baby Maybe
Baby Maybe has lyrics written by members Sooyoung, Yuri, and Seohyun, and is about the nervous feelings of a girl in loveKind of sweet song with an easy listening tunes along with cheerful melody make this song so catchy and easy listening. Tiffany's husky voice, Taeyeon's strong vocal, Jessica's nasal voice, Seo's voice, and Sunny's cute yet sweet typical voice, n the rest fit perfectly in this song. This is one of my favorite songs in this album. <3

4. Talk Talk
This is Japanese "Boomerang" korean version. But Boomerang korean version originally was made in back time too like "Dancing Queen" but somehow got leaked and never released legally until SM made "Boomerang Jpn Version" and put into Girls' Generation Japanese 2nd 'Girls & Peace' album in 2012. And now presented with new Korean lyrics as "Talk Talk" Either Japanese version and Korean version both of them so nice.

5. Promise
Mid-tempo ballad, same as Baby Maybe still with an easy listening tunes but i love how strong their vocals and how beautiful the harmony is. Tiffany's and Taeyeon's high note is so good. Imo the girls always good at kind of ballad songs, fit them perfectly. This is my favorite too <3

6. Express 999
Kind of retro pop song. Not bad at all, ears friendly ^^

7. Lost in Love
Taeyeon and Tiffany's duet song, is about the sad feelings of a break up. Taeyeon's deep and strong vocals and Tiffany's husky impressive voice display a fantastic harmony make this song more an emotional.

8. Look at me
Kind of mid fast beat with playful melody. Taeyeon and Jessica's rap not bad. :P

9. XYZ
Was written by Yuri and Seohyun. With a playful melody and tunes, Ears friendly and not bad at all.

10. Romantic Street
Kind of swing and jazz. Such a lovely song with a sweet melody. This is my favorite too <3

Girls' Generation 4th Korean Album " I Got A Boy " HIT OR MISS ???
ME : HIT !
4,5/5

* Like i said before, music is all about taste and so subjective. Some people may love it or hate it, Either like and dislike, i'm still proud of SNSD for brave to taking risks, pushing their boundaries, experimenting something new, and still slaying it like the queens they are.
